1694. The great historical, geographical and poetical dictionary by Louis Moreri.

Pella, a City of Macedonia, now called Zuchria, according to Le Noir, and named Janizza by Sophian. But this is not the same, for it was built by the Turks, this word in their Language signifying a New Town. Pella is yet in being, and they dig up Marble there. The Ancients affirm it to be the Place where Philip of Macedon and Alexander the Great were born; the last of which is called the Pellean by Juvenal, Sat. 10.
